About Olivia Leung
Experienced English Tuition with a personal understanding of the UK and Hong Kong education journey
Olivia is a qualified English Tutor supporting students in the UK, Hong Kong and international school settings. She specialises in KS3 English, I/GCSE English Language and Literature, IELTS and ESOL, with a clear, personalised and exam-focused approach.
A clear, calm and focused approach to English tuition
Olivia knows how important the right support can be for a student’s confidence and progress. Large class sizes can make it difficult for students to receive the individual attention they need, especially when they are preparing for exams, building essay skills or trying to close learning gaps.
That is why her lessons are focused, personal and practical. She takes time to understand each student’s current level, learning style and goals, then plan lessons that help them make steady, visible progress.
Olivia was born in Hong Kong and moved to the UK for boarding school at the age of 11, before completing her education there. This gives her a personal understanding of the journey many Hong Kong and international students experience when studying in the UK education system.
Olivia’s background
She is a native English and Cantonese speaker. For students from Hong Kong, she can use Cantonese strategically where appropriate to support understanding, explain difficult ideas and build confidence more quickly.
Olivia entered the education industry in 2013 and has taught in both the UK and international school settings. Over the years, she has also worked with hundreds of students through private tuition. She chose to focus on one-to-one and small group tutoring because she enjoys the direct interaction and the opportunity to give each student the attention they need.

How Olivia teaches
Her tutoring style is exam-oriented, student-centred and personalised. Olivia aims to make lessons clear, efficient and relaxed, while still keeping strong goals in mind.
Olivia is especially experienced in supporting students who are underperforming, preparing for resits or lacking confidence in English. Lessons are structured around the student’s needs, whether that means improving essay structure, developing analysis, building vocabulary, preparing for a specific exam board or strengthening core reading and writing skills.
Olivia is also happy to support SEN students. Her tutoring style is calm, clear and structured, with lessons adapted to the student’s individual needs, learning style and confidence level.
She understands that some students benefit from extra patience, repetition, clear instructions and a steady pace. Parents are welcome to share any relevant information before lessons begin, so Olivia can plan support that feels focused, appropriate, and helpful.

Support for UK and Hong Kong Families
Olivia works with students in the UK, Hong Kong, and internationally through online tuition. Her students typically prepare for I/GCSE English, strengthen Lower Secondary English skills, or work towards Entrance Exams, IELTS, and ESOL goals.
Because of her own background, she understands the expectations placed on students moving between education systems. She also understands the concerns parents often have when their child is capable but have yet to show their full potential in English.
Her aim is to provide clear tutoring, regular feedback and practical support that helps students move forward with more confidence.
Focused support that helps students progress
With consistent lessons, homework and cooperation from students and parents, many of my students have made strong progress within 3 to 6 months. Some I/GCSE students have improved by 2 to 3 grades during this time.
Progress varies according to attendance, effort, homework completion, and individual needs, but her approach remains the same: identifying gaps, setting clear priorities, and supporting steady improvements.
